CACAO POWDER

cacao / cocoa powder has a wonderful aroma and the most unforgettable rich cocoa flavour. It’s a fantastic quality natural (non alkalised) cocoa powder from roasted cocoa beans, with a lower fat/cocoa butter content of 10-12%. Cocoa/cacao is rich in plant polyphenols. Polyphenols are a group of plant-based micronutrients and cacoa is classified as a flavonoid within the Polyphenols group. These flavonoids have antioxidant properties, in other words, they contribute to the protection of cells from oxidative stress. Cocoa/cacao also contains minerals such as magnesium, iron, potassium and zinc. Note that cocoa and cacao mean the same thing. Food marketers unfortunately promote the idea that cocoa is roasted and processed while cacao is raw when there is actually no difference.
